Laptop Rebooting

I have a Toshiba Laptop that has XP Pro loaded on it. It keeps rebooting and it is not letting me get to the command prompt. If I try to boot from the XP CD it tells me to run the chkdsk when I try to run the repair option.
Anybody has an idea on what I should do????
