laptop shuts down randomly

I have a IBM TP A21M running win2k. All of a sudden it will just shut down while in the middle of working in windows. It will actually do this at any time including while booting up. I know the hard drive’s good and it is not a power issue. I ran a virus scan but nothing detected. Could it be overheating?
