Laptop will not Power On

A client recently purchased a Dell Inspirion laptop,coputer was being used while on a business trip.

Computer was being used w/charger for an extended period of time,computer was then shut off,but hung at the it is safe to turn of computer,it finished the process after staying on a long period in this state.

The next day the system would not power up.

Any ideas as to what went wrong here.
