Laptop’s keys gone bezerk

Laptop: Gateway 7330GZ
Situation: certain keys in the upper R part of the keyboard are resulting in characters/numbers other than they should be. I checked for spyware-found 58-and removed. I checked for viruses-found none. Still, the problem persists.
In addition, I transferred a NSW program to the laptop, but the program won’t run by double clicking. I have to be sneaky (properties off of either the Computer or C drive, can’t recall which) or via the Start menu…can run LiveUpdate or NAV this way, but not NSW. I wonder if it’s because I had it installed on a desktop previously, although the subscription should have still been okay.
