Learning Programming….???

The big question here is I am an average man who wants to learn programming there are so many languages to learn….? Just to think of it you are already confused of what to choose….?…Is there someone on the internet using only one general language…on computer….can this some other languages be eliminated and concentrate on one is it possible….or impossible. Hope this make sense. Tired of learning many programs I am about to start but I guest people are all different so as the programs. Any comment please is appreciated.
