Linksys PSUS4 Print Server Firmware Prob

by singerguy . Updated 21 years ago

I have a Linksys PSUS4 USB print server and am trying to get it to work with a Dell Photo Printer 720. The printer simply does not respond to print jobs, yet the BiAdmin Utility, when queried about the connected printer, correctly reports it as a Dell 720. I have firmware version 6030 but the latest firmware is 6033. I downloaded and clean installed the latest BiAdmin utility and firmware files, and put the firmware .bin file into the same directory as the BiAdmin executable.

When I launch the utility I can talk to the PSUS4 and change its configuration. I can ping the unit, and I can open the unit’s web browser interface. What I can’t do is upgrade the firmware. I click on the link and nothing happens.

I spent an hour in a support chat session with someone who’s grammar shows that English isn’t their native language, and they didn’t give me one single piece of information I could use. They would ask me questions about things I had already explained and then make me wait 5-10 minutes while they “researched” the issue.

I suspect that the printing problems I am having will be resolved with the firmware update, but I can’t get it to update. I have reset the unit to factory defaults repeatedly with no success. I am hoping that someone here has experience with this and can point me in the right direction for a fix.
