Loading Drivers on W95/98

by techdale . Updated 23 years, 12 months ago

Could someone please tell me the best way to load drivers on to systems running W95 or 98 1st edition. When trying to load a driver for a networking fast ethernet card on W98 1st edition, it does not recognise the driver on the disc and when I hop back out of it and re-boot, it says it is missing VXD files and later says it can’t find the library link or something of the like. Basically at present I just go into device manager and look at the properties for the card and tell it to update the drivers and tell it to go to the A: but when it finds it, it can’t load it and says that the driver could not be loaded. It sometimes asks for the operating disc and once loaded, stops half way through. This must be a problem with the earlier operatingsystems as I don’t have a problem with W98se and upwards.
Any comments and advice would be appreciated.
