Locked Fn Key in W2k Logon Window

by fujita6 . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

Recently, at the longon window in MS2000Pro, the user and password fields are such that the Fn keys are, apparently, locked on. I say “apparently” because the keyboard is fine–it performs perfectly in all applications after logon, and such a problem does not exist for user name and password fields online, or anywhere else. The sole and only “place” this occurs is at the W2000Pro startup window.

So, to enter the key stroke “k” it is necessary to hit the blue Fn key and hold it, then the keystroke “k,” or the value that will be entered is the Fn #2. This is the same for all Fn keys: u=4, i=5, o=6, 0=*,
etc.

Troubleshooting sequences within W2000Pr have been performed without so much as a clue.

Is this a loss of a key in the registry, say with regEdit, and, if so, how can the keys be replaced? Complete W2000Pro reinstall? (Prior registry backup would restore to pre SP2 and other hot fix updates and numerous application installs, thus, is undesirable.)

Thanks.
