log in script hangs

We have a W2k with DHCP enabled. When users log into the active directory, the login script hangs. It gets to that screen where its say please wait for the loging script to execute. The user hits cancel and logs in. But I would prefer for that window not to hang and go away automatically instead of having to hit the cancel.
