logging on to domain controller

Have a home network . Currently only two computers hooked up. Recently, I replaced the pdc server with a different computer. I gave the new computer the same name, same domain. Now, the workstation will not log on to the pdc. I can still share filesbetween the work station and the server but always get the same error on log on, “Unable to locate domain controller, logging on with cached profile.” How can I correct this?
