Logging Out of Windows NT4

Are there any adverse effects to logging out
of Windows NT4 while the desktop is showing
by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL and then left click
on Logoff. Would it be better to left click
on Start – Shutdown – Close all programs and
login as a different user? Or is it simply
user preference?
