Logoff After Logon

A client called with an unusual problem. He can’t logon on to Windows XP. When I looked, I discovered that he could logon but that the system would immediately log him off – regardless of which logon he used.

I have a password protected logon for his computer and I was also logged-off after my logon.

The problem persisted when the computer was booted into Safe Mode.

The last option is to re-format the hard drive and re-install XP.

Any suggestions about any other options to try?
