long file name ..

i have a file named alongfile.doc when i copy this to my hard drive , its truncated to alongfil.doc. but i have another file named alongfil.doc when i copy this to the same path it says file already exists (the truncated one which i copied earlier). if i say overwrite I’ll loose the orgininal file.

how do i slove this problem ??
