Losing Connection

I have a multihomed server running windows 2000 SP3. I have it acting as a router using RRAS. Eventaully I want it to accept VPN connections. My problem occurs every time my external connection needs to renew itself. The external address is static, though still assinged through DHCP. Whenever it needs to renew it fails. giving the error:

The server could not bind to the transport \device\netbt_tcpip_ … Because another computer on the network has the same name.

Yet if I disable theinternal connection temporarily it will renew. I can then enable to internal connection and it will work perfectly until it needs to renew again.

Has anyone had this problem before.
