LPR Printing – not in Network N’hood

I’ve set up a print queue for a HP laser 8550 colour printer on an NT4 SP6a.

The printer only appears in Network N’hood for NT & Win 2000 machines – not Win98.

In NT/2000 i can add the printer via Network N’hood or the printer wizard.

For Win98 i have to manually type in the path of the printer – it can’t see it on the server otherwise.

Both NT & Win95 drivers are on the server. This has happened before but i was unable to find why.

I contact HP who said its a ‘microsoft thing’,i.e. not their fault!

Any contributions gratefully accepted.

PS the server has over 20 other queues on it which everyone can see.
