MAC OS X & WIN XP share DSL?

by wackopinoy . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

i have a macintosh running the latest version
of mac os x and my sister has a lap top
running win xp. i have dsl connection on the
mac but i am having a very hard time sharing
the internet with both. this is what ive tried:

1. linksys 4 port cable dsl router. connected
both to the router but neither communicated
with the router. result: no internet for both mac
and pc.

2. linksys 5 port switch. some success. both
computers were able to connect to the internet
but not at the same time, which defeats the
purpose of sharing.

does anyone know how these two platforms
can share one internet connection? what kind
of settings do i need to do for both the pc
(running win xp) and the mac (running os x) or
if any.

as you can see i am very confused so if
anyone can help i would be greatly
appreciated.

thanks,
Marc
