MAC to Windows PDF files

I have several customers who deliver PDF files to me that are created on a MAC. The problem is that when I receive the files via e-mail attachment they are out of scale, typically larger. For instance, I’ve received files that are stated as 4.25″ X 8″ but they print out 5″ X 9″ using Acobat Reader. Is there a solution to this problem?
