Machine froze and alarm went off

AMD athlon 2200 1.8ghz

Machine froze and alarm went off inside tower.

Shut it down restarted it and went into the bios and checked the tempuratures cpu 35 centigrade and the system 17 centigrade.

cpu fan going.

What could cause this?

Faulty cpu?
Faulty powersupply?
