Manage Ldf(log file) in Ms sql server 2k

one of my database’s log file (ldf) is reaching 3 Gigabyte of hardisk space, and it make the database error. by reading the help, I already make the transactional log backup, and it solve the error, but how do I reduce that ldf? can I make it become under 1 GB?
