Mapped Network Drive –> Remote Disk?

Running NT 4.0 with SP6, on a Compaq.
Mapped drive “P:” now is a remote disk and inaccessible. Disconnecting the drive is not an option. It does not show up as a network drive, but as a remote disk.
How do I get rid of the evil “remote disk”?
