Maximizing Data transfer speeds over LAN and/or PC to PC

Greetings,
I have a customer that creates very large video files. They need to move them from PC to PC in house. They have 4 PCs running through a 10/100 switch. I want to advise them of the fastest hardware configuration to do this. I built a table of all possible components and their transfer speeds (ie SATA, SATA2, IDE, USB, 10/100, Wireless etc.) and then looked at options to utilize these components. Each configuration is limited by the slowest component…such as: using an external SATA2 drive (2.4 Gbit/s) with a USB2 interface, physically moved between PCs, would be limited by the USB2 max transfer rate of 480 Mbit/s.
Here is my big question: I want to add a Gigabit switch, connected to each PC with a Gigabit PCI card. Wouldn’t this be limited by the PCI slot max speed and never see the Gigabit transfer speed?
Sorry for the long post, thanks for your feedback…BA
