Media skips

Hello,
I believe i know the answer to this question… but maybe, and hopefully, I’m wrong.

I recently moved back to school and had to move my PC… Always a nervous time. I hooked up my PC and all that jazz and now… it seems… as if my MP3’s and AVI’s are skipping at times. The duration of the skips is no more than about 2 seconds… but it happens frequently. Im thinking that one of the plates in my HDD scrathced… but i’m not sure. I havnt noticed any thing similar in applications… but I havnt had a chance to play any games or anything yet due to lack of interenet on that computer for the time being. Let me know what you think.
