Memory and souncard conflict?

Hello, I installed an FIC VB-601v motherboard, with cdrom, harddrive, cpu pentium III 500, 256mb of memory, agp viper 770 ultra video card. Everything worked find. Then I decided to install a soundblaster live value card and it works just fine. The problem is that know the computer only reads 192 mb of memory. When I took the sound card out, it went to 256?
