Memory Dump

I need to refresh my mind. I have users that when thier workstation frezzes up they say that a blue screen and mmemory dump happens and then they shut off the machine and turn it back on. I need to remember is this ok. I have no information on what type of memory dump. I have not been able to recreate this problem. Any help????
