In another discussion, it was pointed out that the US is the only major country that still uses the “Imperial” system for common measurements.
The last effort to change the US over to the metric system died in the late 1970s.
So, aside from general arrogance, why are we still sticking with the “Imperial” system.
With the current rush to globalization, one would think that business would be pushing the metric system at us in a major way.
Look at all the computer parts that are in Imperial Measure:
Case screws
Drive screws
Floppy drives
Paper sizes
Monitor size
So, why are we holding on to a measurement system forced upon us by our Imperial Masters?
What can be done to start a grass-roots effort to switch to metric?
Great Brittan was able to overcome popular opinion, and make the switch, why can’t we?
