Microsoft Explorer runtime error

When ever I try to start5 Explorer Ver 6. I get an error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. IEXPLORE.EXE this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact application support team for more information.

What the heck does this mean? I can’t reinstall it from original disk as it ayas the newer version is on the computer. I can’t delete it or replace it from another computer as windows just replaces it. This is starting to really annoy me, can anyone help?
