Microsoft in the anti-Linux campaign

SCO acccused IBM stole their code and use it for linux kernel. SCO send letter to all IT customer threatening legal action to them. Things getting ugly when Microsoft announced agreement to license SCO’s Unix patents and the source code.
This is the most breaking news since I’m get used with open source.
Which idiot start this mess ? SCO or the Big Blue ?
Which kernel version is effected by this mess ?
What is the impact to the 3rd world country which does not like to feed the M$ regime ??
