Microsoft Messenger

Is there a way to display a notice on my webpage that I am “online” or “offline” with Microsoft Messenger? We’d like to give clients the ability to “chat online with a company rep” but don’t want to invest in a Java Chat thing. If I am online with Messenger, I’d like our webpage to display a certain image showing I am online. Likewise, if I am not signed in, the image should reflect that as well. Is this possible? How?
