microsoft products will not open files

Hello. I’m not quite sure where to post this as this is my first post. I recently had a new hard drive installed. Most things are working correctly. However, when I go into a Microsoft program, word, excel, etc. I cannot get files to open. There is no error message, the program just freezes up. If I go directly to where the file is located and click on the file it will open.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the products twice and cannot understand where the error is. Anyone have an idea how this can be fixed?
