Microsoft Windows XP – Strange files

In the C drive of a user multiple files appeared named “Recued document 1.txt” all the way to “Recued document 54.txt” and three other ones named “~$scued document.txt”, “~$scued document 1.txt”, and “~$scued document 2.txt”. Most of the files have nothing in them and others have what looks like a email message. Does outlook do stuff like this, has anyone seen this before?
