Migrate Win2k-HDD to new hardware

Hi All, set the scene. we (you & me) cannot clone (ghost) a win2k HDD to a larger one in a new desktop because of the SID problem? is this correct?

So if my computer blows up-disintegrates-catches fire or just sues me for divorce, how do i migrate the surviving HDD to a new and different computer? is there an answer or do i just do it the hard way, i.e. reinstall win2k give the new machine the old network ID number and put back all software and data? Some Progress this! Come on M-Soft we are not all criminals, this is a legitimate requirement.

any advice welcome, consider me a novice. (this time only)
