I am currently preparing a project to migrate all of our users from Windows 95 to Windows XP. We use Windows 95 profiles/policies and Netware client 3.1 sp2 for networking.
Here’s my question to all of you. I would like some tips and/or experiences you have had with migrating to Windows XP. I don’t plan on upgrading but installing the OS from scratch and build from there.
Our hardware is Dell GX110s and GX1s. We have allowed in the preliminary plan to upgrade all machines to 128MB of memory. Since we have several machines with just 64MB we were going to include testing Windows XP with just this much memory. Did anyone out there try to run XP with just 64MB? We use networked HP printers.
Our software is mixed with bespoke and general 32 bit applications. Part of my plan is to create a table with existing applications and then research to see if they are compatible. Is this what you did? Is there some templates out there which helped you out?
I will assign this quite a lot of points and share this with all who answer with some links, info, document references, etc. that may have proved useful in your project.
