Migrating to W2K & AD

I have been doing research, but nothing is as good as advice from people who have already moved to AD from an NT4 environment.
I have 6 servers in 2 domains and 4 stand alone servers.
I want to move to 2000 slowly by doing one domain next week, then the other in July.
I plan on doing a few backups, offlining a BDC, and upgrading the PDC to 2000 AS.
Then I will upgrade the BDC’s one at a time until they are all 2000 AS.
Questions:
* Can I run AD, and keep the other standard NT4 domain until I upgrade?
* As long as I upgrade the PDC to 2000 first, the PDC emulator will keep the BDC’s
happy until I can upgrade them all?
* Any good books on migrating, and any gotchas that I shoudllook out for?
