modem problem – windows 98

by penny2cats . Updated 23 years, 1 month ago

I have installed Windows 98 in a second partition using Partition Magic. I have Windows 95 in the first partition, and use AOL. My modem is an internal Telepath for Windows with x2 (Gateway). I downloaded (from Gateway’s website) the correct driver and installed it in Windows 98. When I try to bring up AOL, I get the message ‘Communication port is invalid or busy’. I’ve tried re-installing the modem and driver, and nothing works. By the way, when I double click the modem icon in Control Panel, it prompts me to install a modem – very different from in Windows 95 where it shows the modem name and information. Thanks, Penny
