I wish there were a “modem” category.
I am trying to test an RAS setup by connecting two modems using a standard 6 ft. phone cable. Since I have no dial tone, I’ve been trying to force a connection using AT commands in HyperTerminal. My problemis the USRobotics Sportster 33.6 external faxmodem that is connected to the server. I can establish communications to it from the server with HyperTerminal, but it refuses to dial. Here are some of the commands that I’ve tried, and the results.Command Response Notes
ATD NO CARRIER response is immediate
ATA NO CARRIER response is immediate
ATX1D NO CARRIER response is immediate
ATH0 OK puts modem on hook
ATH1 ERROR but puts modem off hook
ATO0 ERROR response is immediate
All the other AT commands seem to work OK.
