monitor freezes

Anyone have a solution to Dell Latitude CPi monitor freezing when accessing the network -uses Xircom realport 10/100 ethernet- on win2000 switched network card, same problem.
If take network card out it doesn’t seem to freeze
but of course can’t logon to domain.
Is it possible to test internal port? Thks
