Monitor making a High-Pitch Noise

by aceviper . Updated 22 years, 3 months ago

19″ ViewSonic GS790 Monitor makes high-pitch noise, especially immediately after starting up or changing resolutions.

Changing refresh rates/resolution does not fix the problem (tried at all refresh rates/resolutions to no avail)

What does work is Tilting the monitor up or down. Doing this immediately stops the sounds for the time being.

Does not always happen, and sometimes the sound is louder and more prevalent then others.

I have noticed that after the computer boots up, if it is making the noise, that changing the color of the background to different colors effects how loud the sound is, to a point — this doesn’t fix the problem, only lowers/raises the sound.

I’ve opened the monitor case to try and locate the sound. It seems to emanate from a black case in the back left corner of the monitor (facing the monitor). This box is the same box you adjust to change focus/brightness. I changed both the focus and the brightness, seemed to have no effect on the sound. After trial and error I got the monitor back to normal focus/brightness…

Looking for a way to fix the problem so that it doesn’t come back, without having to buy a new monitor or get a refurbished one from ViewSonic.

Thank you very much for your time.
