Monitor resolution for multiple users Wi

I recently installed Win XP Pro on my home PC. I have serveral accounts. Logging in to an account and
modifying the monitor resolution seems to modify for all users. This occurs even when the account does not have admin access. I wouldn’t expect that to be ‘normal’, but …

When the resolution changes, it reorders / repositions desktop icons. When resolution is smaller Windows and such have to be resized or resolution reset, desktop rearranged.

Any idea what I may have done in instal/setup that would have done this? Know the solution to stop it from occurring?
