Motherboard Will Not See Hard Drive

I pull a working hard drive out of my PC and replace it with a larger drive. The PC would not see the new hard drive anywhere. When I put the original, working hard drive back in, the PC would not see it, either. I swapped out the cable. That did not work. I only have one HDD controller on the motherboard. I checked jumper settings. They were fine. I upgraded the motherboard BIOS. What do I need to do to get the motherboard to see the hard drive? Thank you.
