Mouse dissapears on hyperlinks.

I have installed Win2000 Pro SP1 on a PIII gateway desktop. After installation my mouse disappears over hyperlinks, word doc, access and excel doc. I have deleted it and re-added it. Upgraded drivers, changed mouse types changed pointer types. Nothing works Please help.
