MS Exchange 5.5 Performance Optimizer

by raykkho . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

Scenario: I need to move the private and public information store onto the new HDD since the old drive is running out of space.

After successfully installed a new 4.5G SCSI HDD into my Dell PowerEdge, I formatted it using NTFS, close down all Exchange Services, change them into ?Manual ?starting to make sure they don?t got loaded into memory, and restart the server, all went well. I promptly started Exchange?s Performance Optimizer, all went well until the point where I COULD move the files but then the check box got gray out and the error message said one of the services did not stop properly and didn?t offer me to move the files. I already stop all Exchanges services and restart server before starting the Optimizer, why it said some services did not stop properly? All Exchange services can be stopped and started without problems.

I understand the folder files can be moved using Exchange Admin but I am not sure proper NTFS permission will be set using this method. Any advice would be much appreciated.
