MS NT4.0 DNS & Linux BIND 8 NS

Hi, Perhaps someone could assist me with a DNS issue I have.

I have customer who is running Linux BIND 8 caching only server on the end of a WAN link and they have set-up a MS NT4.0 DNS for thier Intranet. They know want the NT DNS to query the Linux DNS if it cannot resolve the name.

I know MS DNS on NT4.0 is not the BIND version, but can or should an MS DNS be able to use the Linux BIND DNS to resolve names, with the Linux DNS set-up as a caching only server?

Becuase if it can, I must be doing something wrong, any suggestions, comments?
