MS Office 2000 Apps crash under WIN2K

I am running Win2000 Professional SR 1. I had installed MS Office 2000 Professional, and all apps worked. I just installed MS Project 2000, and now none of the Office 2000 apps work! They start and then disappear! I also installed MS Visio 2000,which also works. I have uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office several times to no avail. All other apps on the PC work, including IE 5.5.
