MS Word flicker

Some users gets occasional rapid flickering of Word or Excel toolbars and other bits of the user-interface. After closing the program and trying to restart it, it is followed by a ‘Not enough memory…’ error and the only cure is a reboot.

Its resolution has defeated my predecessors for the last 2-3 years and I would love to be the guru who cracks it here**!

Anybody seen this ‘flicker’? Can anybody _cure_ it?
