MSOE.DLL could not initialize

by ybnormal . Updated 23 years, 2 months ago

– Windows XP Home has become corrupted and now cannot open Outlook Express ….. “Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook Express may not be installed correctly” –
– attempts to remedy this problem have generated multiple directories under ‘C:\Documents and Settings’ as follows:

* All Users
* All Users.Windows
* Default User
* Owner
* Ron Lehman
* Ron Lehman.RON
* Ron Lehman.RON.000
* Ron Lehman.RON.001
* Ron Lehman.RON.002

– we have just deleted all but first, last, and the directory labeled ‘Ron Lehman’ which is the one we wish to use, but system boots to ‘Ron Lehman.RON.002’ …… how do we get WinXP to use settings in C:\Documents and Settings\Ron Lehman\ as we initially intended ? –
– could this return us to our inital settings allowing Outlook Express to launch? –
– why does WindowsXP generate those directories? –
– all Windows and IE updates have been installed to no avail and the system will not allow us to uninstall/reinstall Outlook Express or Internet Explorer …. we have wasted far too much time on this, what else can we do ? –
