Multiple Default Monitors on a Laptop

I have noticed on several laptops I have set up (Dell & Micron) that in the Device Manager there are 4 Default Monitors listed. They also appear in the Display Settings. It reads: Display: (Multiple Monitors) on ATI Mobility M4 (english). Removing or uninstalling all 4 of the Default Monitors and then rebooting has no effect. One of the laptops is on a docking station (the Gateway) and the other is not (the Dell). No software has been installed except for MS’s Novell Client and the Netbeui protocol.
