My Computer Corrupt

When I open My Computer, all of the menus, back and forward arrows, etc. are missing, all I have is a window with files and folders listed. One minute it was working fine, the next minute this. Very hard to navigate. Is this caused by some kind of file corruption, and if so, how do I fix it?
