My Computer trying cabel select!!

My computeris an ASUS MOTHERBOARD With an AMD K-6-2 processor. I have a 40 GB WD Disk and an Creative CDR as the primary decices. I’am trying to connect a WD 4 GB and a DVD as the secondary devices using CABEL SELECT for I was told this is the only way WIndows 98 would reconise the DVD! So far my computer only reconises the WD DISK.
COULD YOU PLEASE HELP! 1500
