I have an older asus motherboard, worked fine until i installed a new cablemodem,then for no reason the system will drop the graphics and there will be no image on the monitor, at the same instant the HDD will power down, i thought it was the powermanagement features so i made sure it was disabled in the bios and the O/S, still the same problem, there is power going to the MB as the powersupply fan is running and the cpu fan, as of last night when i turn the PC on the power lights come on the fan to the cpu and power supply come on but there is no Image on the screen, i tried 2 other video cards, same result……..no post beeps, nothing, if i leave it for a few days powered off it will come on, but after a few hours the above symptoms will (poof) reappear like magic, i have cleaned every contact, reseated every card, pulled the MB out of the case and placed it on a cardboard box, still does the same things. …………i have my doubts that anyone could figure this out, but ithought it couldnt hurt to post it here as i’am lost on this one.
