Well, here’s my second problem I believe to be related to my dial-up account settings or TCP/IP.
In exploring my localhost problem I have discovered that I’m having a problem using nbtstat -A [IP Address] when disconnected from the network. I have another computer connected over another dial-up account with file and printer sharing enabled. Ports 137, 138, and 139 are all open and Listening. When I type nbtstat -A [IP Address] I get the “Host not found” message. That?s Bull! I know its there. There is something wrong with nbtstat or rather my dial-up connection setting or perhaps TCP/IP.
Here are the specifics on the system I’m having a problem with so you don’t have to go back to my last post.
Its a laptop computer runningWindows XP Pro. I connect it to my home LAN which consists of a desktop computer running Windows XP Pro and another laptop running Red Hat Linux 7.2. I use simple file sharing to share files between the two XP machines. All machines connect to each other through a linksys cable/DSL Router. I use a cable internet connection when connected to the network.
